Metaverse is essentially about games, says Microsoft boss
Many companies seem to be focused on the Metaverse and what that could mean for the future of the internet. Microsoft , of course, is very interested.Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella has revealed that the company’s plan to acquire Activision Blizzard was partially motivated by the Metaverse. That and a motivation to create “the next internet”.
At the time of announcing the acquisition, the company explained the logic behind it:”This acquisition will accelerate the development of Microsoft’s gaming business across mobile, PC, console and cloud and supply foundations for that Metaverse.”
Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, further added: “Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting category in entertainment today across all platforms and will play a key role in the development of Metaverse platforms…”Now Nadella spoke further about the company’s vision for the future in an interview with the Financial Times :
“Essentially, Metaverse is all about making games… It comes down to putting people, places, things [into] a physics engine, which relates everyone, places, and things within the physics engine to one another. We will quickly be located on a celebration room table with either our avatars, holograms, or 2D surfaces with surround audio. Guess what happens? The area we have always done that’s… is gaming.”
“And so we’re going to approach even the systems side of what we’re going to build for the metaverse, essentially, democratize building games… and bring it to anyone who wants to build space and essentially have people, places [and] things.” that are digitized and related to each other through their physical presence.””In my opinion, the fact that we’re great at making games gives us permission to build this next platform, which is essentially the next internet…”It seems that the plan is interesting for the future. And that it’s about bringing “you” into the game and into the Metaverse.
