Qualcomm has revealed its Snapdragon SoC 888+ during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 event. The new chip is a slightly more advanced version of the snapdragon888, which was revealed in December the previous year. It is Snapdragon 888+ Snapdragon 888+ looks like the Snapdragon 888 only improvements consist of an increase in the speed for the Cortex X1 CPU core enhanced AI performance. When we look at the specs we do not believe that there are any exact performance enhancements in the everyday routine and gaming.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ launched
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ features two significant upgrades from the Snapdragon 888. First of all, Qualcomm has increased the rate of Cortex-X1 core CPU to 2.84GHz within the Snapdragon 888 to 2.995GHz in the Snapdragon 888+. The other change is that the latest processor is more efficient in AI performance. While the Snapdragon 888 has 26 TOPS AI, the Snapdragon 888+ has 32 TOPS AI. The other specifications of both chipsets are identical.
In addition to the Cortex-X1 processor, which is running at 2.995GHz, which I previously mentioned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ features three Cortex A78 CPU cores that run at 2.42GHz and four Cortex A55 CPU cores that run at 1.80GHz.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is announced
In terms of image resolution, the SoC can manage the following camera configurations that include a single 84MP sensor or a single 200MP sensor that has zero shutter delay (ZSL) and an 84 MP+25 MP setting that includes ZSL and three cameras with a 28-megapixel resolution that have ZSL. It can also support up to 8K30 or 4K120 video. In terms of connectivity, it is also a 5G-compatible device. Snapdragon 888+ comes with the X60 integrated modem, which includes support for 5G networks. And, of course, the Snapdragon 888+ uses the same Samsung 5 nm fabrication process as that of the Snapdragon 888.
Qualcomm has confirmed it has announced that Asus, Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi are partners for this chip, which implies that they are soon to launch tablets and smartphones that feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8888+ CPU. Strangely, Qualcomm didn’t mention Samsung. It appears that Samsung will stick with its Snapdragon 888 chipset present and then move to the successor to the Snapdragon the 888+.
