Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC to Launch Along with Galaxy S22 Series
Samsung has confirmed Exynos 2200 will be launched along with Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series at the close of the month or possibly in February. The flagship chip was announced to be launched earlier in the month. Samsung will offer the latest user experience and better performance than the Exynos 2100 of last year through the newest system-on-chip (SoC).It’s been confirmed that it’s a GPU created by AMD to compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.So far it appears that it appears that the Galaxy phone maker has used Mali GPUs on its Exynos chips that provide inferior graphics compared to the Adreno GPUs in Qualcomm SoCs.
According to the words of a Samsung representative, South Korean news outlet Business Korea reported that the company is planning to unveil an Exynos 2200 SoC soon, before unveiling its flagship smartphone. The month before, Samsung teased the launch of its brand new Exynos chip on the 11th of January via teasers through social media. Samsung, however, quietly pulled the teasers signalling that it was unable to announce the launch date.Typically, Samsung brings its new Exynos chips before its flagship phones to test their capabilities.
Samsung announced last year that it’s in talks with AMD to design a new generation of mobile GPU that will be integrated into the future top-of-the-line Exynos SoC. It will be built in AMD’s RDA 2 graphics architecture.
The official report in Business Korea reportedly said that the new GPU is expected to fix the issues with Exynos 2100’s chip. The previous SoC led to issues such as heating for some users.
“We plan to hone our competitiveness by loading GPUs for games into cellular devices,” the state stated, as quoted through the publication.
Samsung expects to utilize its Exynos 2200 SoC on the Galaxy S22 series for Europe and South Korea. But, the phones made specifically for the markets of India, China, and the US will come featuring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
Rumors have claimed that Exynos 2200 could be built around Samsung’s four-nanometer LPE technique.
According to a news report Samsung could host their following Galaxy Unpacked event on February 8 in which it will reveal new phones in the Galaxy S22 series. The new phones could include the basic Galaxy S22 alongside the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Is Exynos a SoC?
Exynos, formerly Hummingbird, is a series of ARM-based system-on-chips developed by Samsung Electronics’ System LSI division and manufactured by Samsung Foundry. It is a continuation of Samsung’s earlier S3C, S5L and S5P line of SoCs.
Is Exynos good for gaming?
CPU and GPU
Experience better processing and gaming. Combining a pair of dependable processing units, the Exynos 850 delivers capable mobile computing and gaming on devices. With its Arm® Cortex®-A55 octa-core CPU, the Exynos 850 offers a great combination of stable performance and power efficiency.
Why does Samsung still use Exynos?
Except for the US, the rest of the world uses GSM technology. Therefore, Samsung doesn’t need a Snapdragon processor, and Samsung can comfortably replace it with the Exynos processor. In short, the Exynos processor lowers the manufacturing cost, and it offsets the import tax.
