Samsung Expected to Earn Up to $11.5 Billion in Q4 2021
Samsung’s preview of the fourth quarter financial report indicates a potential operating profit of between 13.7 and 13.9 trillion won ($11.4 or $11.5 billion at the current brokerage). In sales, the company estimates that sales are between 75 and 77 trillion won.
The full result will be released on January 27th.
Month-to-month growth of the global semiconductor market
The South Korean’s gains may be linked to the high demand for Q4 chips and memories, in particular DRAM and NAND chips, as reported by the GSMA Arena.
This prediction is corroborated by the recent report by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), informing that the global semiconductor industry grew by 23.5% compared to November 2021 and a year earlier, from US$40 billion to US$49 billion.
Crises in Supply Chain
It is worth remembering that the semiconductor sector is one of the most affected by the crisis in the electronics supply chain and is not able to meet all demand. See below articles published by Mobile Time about the impacts of this problem, which began during the crisis of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV 2), and caused:
Reduced production at semiconductor factories in Asia, especially China and Taiwan;
Lack of containers (and increased rents for the few available) for cargo transportation;
Decrease in sea and air freight routes.
