WeChat wallet will accept Chinese digital currency transactions
Tencent announced that the WeChat wallet ( Android, iOS ), WeChatPay, will accept Yuan Digital as a payment method for its consumer transactions. According to a China Daily post on Thursday, 6, users will be able to choose the “pay with digital Renminbi” option that was recently added to the messaging app.
In the future, we may see a time when people in China have access to digital currencies that are not Bitcoin or Ethereum. This is because WeChat wallet just announced their support for another two Crypto currencies: Litecoin and Ripple! With these new features, you can shop on Taobao without worrying about fees since they’re now converted into Renminbi before charging them from your account instead.

To activate the new function, a person must identify themselves via Yuan Digital’s digital wallet, e-CNY, which was developed by the Chinese central bank and launched earlier this week. After making this activation, the user will be able to send or receive payments with the official digital currency of the country.
Tencent hopes to improve the use of Yuan Digital in its WeChat wallet from tests at the Olympic Village at the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, which begins welcoming athletes on January 27th.
